Sacred Heart Emerald Coast
Since 2003, Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast has proudly carried forward a legacy of compassionate, community-driven healthcare in Florida. Born from a grassroots effort after a local hospital closure, the facility was built with $20 million in local donations and built on land donated by the St. Joe Community Foundation. By being the only non-profit, faith-based hospital in Walton County, ASHEC stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to its own well-being.
Our Mission, Our Promise
Sacred Heart Emerald Coast is Walton County’s only hospital—an 86-bed, full-service facility delivering advanced specialty care and 24/7 emergency services for adults and children. ASHEC has earned national recognition five times as one of Truven Health Analytics’ Top 100 Hospitals for patient safety, experience, and satisfaction.
ASHEC is home to a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the ONLY NICU in Walton and Okaloosa counties, and operates its pediatric services, including 24/7 emergency care, in conjunction with the Studer Family Children’s Hospital. We also serve the area for maternity services through the Family Birth Place. ASHEC is also a Gold Certified National Safe Sleep Hospital by Cribs for Kids, the highest level of certification.
